People often ask if being an Spruce Grove newborn photographer means their other kids can be in the photos as well. My answer? Of course. It’s a newborn session so the focus is on your fresh babe, but there’s often a crossover with family. If you have more than one child, I can’t help taking photos of their sweet face as well.
With this family, I have had the privilege of taking their photos many times. Danielle and Sheldon were among some of my very first wedding couples. Then I got to take their newborn photos when their first daughter came along, and now their second. Their first hunny, Noémi, was the biggest ham for this session, and so good with her new little sister. She was down for kisses and snuggles, as well as for ripping around throughout the session.
What to expect with younger siblings in your photos:
I always tell parents with multiple babies that we’ll always do photos all together right at the beginning. We make sure to get that family photo smiling as well as the sibling photo. After that, I say to let the other child come in and out of photos, as more often than not? They lose interest in what we’re up to haha and that’s okay. We’ll invite them in and out when they’re around, and take advantage of when they jump back in. I am not one for forcing kids to participate. Hence why I get all the group ones done near the beginning to ensure we get what we need.
My biggest thing I want parents to know for their sessions is that I know that kids are kids. Babies cry, little kids jump and can be disinterested, and I can work with that. I’m happy to sing songs to get their attention, wait if you need to breastfeed, whatever it is. I want you to have photos of your family as much as you do. I am an Spruce Grove newborn photographer who cares about your experience as much as you getting your photos.
And now I hope you enjoy their joy as much as I did.
