Newborn Photography with B.Grace Creatives
I have been doing newborn photography for many years now. I started the same way I did the rest of my photography: by trying when someone asked. This has lead me to take countless photos and to develop my own way of doing them.
How it works:
My intention is for my sessions is for them to be low-key and easy. Lord knows the beginning of parenthood can be a lot. And the last thing I want is for you to be stressed about your photos with your fresh babe. With this in mind, I more often than not, do in-home sessions. No packing up your baby, worrying about spit-up on fresh clothes, or forgetting a soother.
This means that I use natural light as well. I am not a studio newborn photographer. If you’re looking for baskets and wraps, bumblebee outfits and props, I’m not your girl. And that’s okay! There are many talented photographers in the Edmonton area who specialize in this type of newborn photography. But for me, I simply use windows and rooms with plenty of light to take your photos.
We have everything we need where you are.
If you have objects you’d like a photo with, such as stuffies, knit blankets, cribs, etc. – no problem. Just let me know at the beginning of your session and we will get those photos too.
What to expect:
All I ask is that my families try to ensure that the rooms we use are free from background clutter. There is no need to clean your whole house! Low stress is my goal. Make sure curtains are pulled back and spaces are tidy, and that works great for me.
As for you yourself? You just need to be ready to admire and smooch your baby, and snuggle and spend time with your fam. I will lead you through the motions and put you where I need you for the best photos.
In regards to clothing, neutral, muted, earth-toned colours are best. Creams, tans, muted blues and greens, soft pink, and small patterns are great. Mixing textures can add dynamic to your photos, and I am HERE for all the adorable little outfits and bows.
Baby leads the session:
I do ask that babies have napped and/or fed before their big close up. Or that you have done what you know to give them the best chance of being in a good mood! I am very flexible when it comes to timing and am happy to accommodate whatever time of day that is. With that being said! I know that babies can be unpredictable. If they need a mid-session feed, or to be rocked to sleep, I am happy to wait (and take photos!).
My motto is that baby leads the session. I do my best with whatever happens, and have never had an unhappy client. I want you to be happy with you photos and will do everything I can to get them for you.
