Joel+Nicole // Family Session

When you start a small business and step out of a known profession and career path to pursue a way of living that brings you a lot of joy, but less security, the support and encouragement of your friends and family is so important, and Joel and Nicole have always been there for me.

They were the first family I ever took photos of, over 3 years ago when I had my first camera and no idea what I was doing. I can remember trying to get the background to blur but having no idea how to get it to do it, so I went into Lightroom (which I also didn’t know how to use) and used the focus tool to do it (insert laugh crying emoji) it was so extensive! Haha and definitely not my best work, but they loved them (and me!) despite my lack of skill. I was definitely rockin’ the “fake it til you make it” motto at this point!

Now, with a little more knowledge and an equipment update, I was not only able to deliver a beautiful session (with mad props to a gorgeous summer day and Nicole’s outfit coordination, which is on POINT!) I’m proud of, but I also have a completely comparable side by side image to see how I’ve grown (you’ll see the pic!)
