In-Home Newborn Photographer // Ferris

I love being an in-home newborn photographer. It’s a beautiful thing to step into your space, where you’ve dreamt of, and now are living, the joy that is bringing your baby home. And these two were no exception.

Cameo and Austin and I have been interconnected for many many years. Between siblings going to school together, and families knowing one another on our acreages, it’s been awhile haha. And it was a beautiful thing to see them grown up, in love and so happy with their new hunny.

And what a hunny he is. I cannot get over Ferris’ overalls, or his name. He was so content during his first close up. Our biggest problem was just me trying to eat his perfectly adorable, juicy rolls. He eventually fell asleep on them (even after getting him out of his second outfit!) and that made for even further sweetness.

Now in the name of appeasing the google gods, I need to meet my word quota, and thus I wanna talk about what to wear. I will always tell the mumma to choose what she’s wearing first. I know it might seem like the baby is the most important, but you just brought that baby into the world! You decide first what you feel comfortable in and then build from there. My suggestion is neutral, muted earth tones; tans, creams, soft colours. A dress is also an option if you don’t want to wear pants haha. Then comes babe, which I feel like can be fun seeing as you just get to stand in sections of mini clothes and pick something that compliments what you’re wearing. And dads are easiest in my opinion. Simple pants, jeans, black, and then just a nice, plain shirt that goes with your colour palette.

AND IN THE END! I have shot so many of these things and though I know you want to look nice, it’s so much more about what we are taking photos of. Your first family portrait together, your baby in this moment, and all the love and kisses. So don’t stress too much! Low stress is the goal.
